‘A Failed Experiment:’ District attorney explains hands are tied on keeping guilty behind bars

Court dockets are packed and riddled with names.
Some of those names are repeat offenders and 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney C.J. Robinson said the Prison Reform Act of 2015 passed by the Alabama legislature has tied the hands of law enforcement, prosecutors and judges. Robinson said the 2015 legislation to control the prison population is “a failed experiment.” MORE

Back in May of 2022, a press conference dropped a bomb shell, after it was revealed that three daycare workers at Journey Church of Prattville were accused of multiple counts of child abuse of children in their care. The accusations came after a person who was interviewing for a job at Journey Church witnessed what they thought was abuse and immediately reported it to church officials. In turn, church officials reached out to the Prattville Police Department, which obtained video footage of the rooms where the children were abused and began a lengthy investigation. (MORE)

District Attorney CJ Robinson addressed the Autauga County Commission Tuesday, Feb 7, at the regular meeting. Robinson explained how the Prison Reform Act has affected the Circuit Judicial System. In his opinion, it is devastating. However, he says there is an opportunity to rectify the damage. (MORE)
